Vyin AI and NUWA Robotics Launch AI Home Care Robot “Gilee”

Integrating a Controllable AI Brain with Humanoid Interaction Design to Build Trustworthy Smart Companionship

In 2025, Taiwan will officially enter a super-aged society. The shortage of long-term care manpower and uneven quality of care have become challenges for both policymakers and families. In response to this need, generative AI startup Vyin AI has partnered with Taiwan-based robotics innovator NUWA Robotics to launch the AI-powered home care robot “Gilee.” This MIT innovative solution combines Vyin AI’s controllable AI brain with NUWA Robotics’ humanoid interaction design. It extends beyond conversational companionship to provide comprehensive support, assisting in the care of seniors’ emotional well-being, health, and safety.

Addressing the Risks of Generative AI: Vyin AI and NUWA Robotics Co-create a Trustworthy AI Brain

Generative AI is advancing rapidly, yet its safe application in high-risk long-term care remains a critical challenge for the industry. While large language models (LLMs) demonstrate strong conversational capabilities, they often lack domain-specific expertise and defined response boundaries. This creates risks of inaccurate or misleading answers. In addition, the elderly frequently communicate in fragmented speech, which may result in overlooked health warnings or signs of emotional decline. NUWA Robotics’ Chief Operating Officer Chih-Chieh Chang stated: “For years, we have focused on developing companion robots that encourage seniors to speak and feel at ease. However, physical form and interaction alone are not sufficient. To truly address loneliness and safeguard health, a reliable AI brain is essential.”
Vyin AI has developed a proprietary “Bionic Brain” architecture (Vyin Brain). It is constructed by four functional centers: language, knowledge, emotional understanding, and action, which collaborate to regulate the AI response process. At its core, the knowledge center transforms professional medical data into a controllable knowledge graph. This ensures that answers are evidence-based, traceable, and verifiable, fundamentally eliminating the risk of AI hallucinations. Gamania Group’s Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Vyin AI, Benjamin Chen, emphasized: “In long-term care, mistakes are unacceptable because the consequences are too severe. With Vyin Brain, we establish clear response boundaries which ensure that people can rely on AI with confidence.”

The AI home care robot “Gilee” integrates a controllable AI system with humanoid interaction design. It can understand seniors’ needs in real time and respond accordingly, serving as a safe and reliable companion in home care environments.

Combining Technology and Design to Achieve Intelligent Care

Powered by Vyin Brain, Gilee can process fragmented speech from seniors and provide timely responses based on context. For example, if a senior says, “tightness in my chest;  shortness of breath,” Gilee will immediately show concern, offer professional health advice, and notify family members simultaneously. In cases of suspected fraud, Gilee issues a warning and suggests calling 165 (governmental anti-fraud hotline) or contacting family members, providing two-way real-time protection. Additionally, leveraging years of experience in robot design, NUWA Robotics has refined Gilee’s proportions, eye contact, and even its “waiting expressions” to create a natural interaction experience that encourages seniors to express their needs more openly.
After interacting with the product, Zong-Yong Li, General Manager of CENRA+ Senior Care (中化銀髮), and his team said: “Gilee’s appearance is appealing, and its voice-mimicking function allows seniors to hear their family members’ voices and feel cared for. This is a very important design.” He also mentioned that seniors’ need for emotional responses and sustained conversation is often underestimated. When they are willing to speak, AI can truly deliver companionship and provide valuable risk alerts.

Zong-Yong Li, General Manager of CENRA+ Senior Care (中化銀髮), and his team experienced the AI home care robot “Gilee.” They praised its voice-mimicking message function which provides seniors with a sense of emotional connection.

“Gilee” Robot Debuts at the 2025 International Care Expo

Gilee combines an intelligent AI brain with approachable interaction design. It not only executes tasks but also serves as a trusted companion for seniors and a source of reassurance for their families. This Taiwan-developed innovation will be unveiled for the first time at the Taipei International Care Expo, which takes place from September 25 to 27, 2025. On-site participation and interaction are available to every visitor.
Looking ahead, Vyin AI and NUWA Robotics will continue to deepen their collaboration, extending controllable AI brain technology and robotic design into healthcare, day care, and retail environments. The joint vision is to transform human–machine symbiosis from concept into reality, bringing practical support to households and everyday life.
